Ferrari 308

The Ferrari 308, produced from 1975 - 84 has a top speed of 170 mph. A Rossa Corsa red or “race red” Ferrari, recently sold for $181,000. The show Magnum P.I. introduced me to the Ferrari 308 and ever since this has been one of my favorite cars. I was thinking about featuring the Ferrari Enzo, but I had to go with the red car that started it all.

THE RED SUMMER

American streets ran with blood in 1919 during what would become known as "Red Summer". In the small town of Elaine, Arkansas, racial tensions turned to riot...

Red Summer is the period from late winter through early autumn of 1919 during which white supremacist terrorism and racial riots took place in more than three dozen cities across the United States, as well as in one rural county in Arkansas. The term "Red Summer" was coined by civil rights activist and author James Weldon Johnson, who was the first African American to earn a doctorate degree from Columbia University, where he completed one in sociology. The October 1919 report by Dr. George Edmund Haynes was a call to national action, was published in The New York Times and other major newspapers. Haynes had been employed as a field secretary by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The October 1919 report by Dr. George Edmund Haynes was a sociology scholar and federal civil servant, a co-founder and first executive director of the National Urban League, serving 1911 to 1918. A graduate of Fisk University, he earned a master's degree at Yale University and s noted that lynchings were a national problem. As President Wilson had noted in a 1918 speech: from 1889–1918, more than 3,000 people had been lynched; 2,472 were black men, and 50 were black women. Haynes said that states had shown themselves "unable or unwilling" to put a stop to lynchings, and seldom prosecuted the murderers.
